I worked in a law firm for six years prior to jumping ship to freelance. I know for me, in that setting, meetings sucked (for lack of a more proper term). Each meeting was one billable hour entirely wasted with nothing new accomplished but our guts being full of pasta. Whatever power that be decided pasta should always be served at group lunch meetings (especially the ones being video-conferenced) wasn't too bright, and these are people whose salaries are in the millions per year. I now avoid meetings -- and conference calls, another tool for death -- at all costs. No freelance job could pay me enough to justify enduring that torture again. But that's just me. I'm bitter...
