Some Inspirational Quotes

November 18, 2007 by J.C. Hewitt

I’ve been ill for several days, so I apologize for the lack of postings. I will try to put together the weekly poetry assignment tomorrow. My NaNoWriMo number is now 21,000. Its coming along. I will find a way to hit 50,000 words. There’s still plenty of story to tell. Until tomorrow, here are some inspirational quotes to keep everyone going.

Cicero
Times are bad. Children no longer obey their parents, and everyone is writing a book.

Cyril Connolly
Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.

G. K. Chesterton
A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author.

Jean Sibelius
Pay no attention to what the critics say; there has never been set up a statue in honor of a critic.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Any reviewer who expresses rage and loathing for a novel is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.

Lord Brabazon
I take the view, and always have, that if you cannot say what you are going to say in twenty minutes you ought to go away and write a book about it.

Oscar Wilde
There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written or badly written.

Ray Bradbury
You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.

Rita Mae Brown
A deadline is negative inspiration. Still, it’s better than no inspiration at all.

Steven Wright
I wrote a few children’s books… not on purpose.
