I think the freelance world may have changed a bit. As in, I believe modern-day freelance writers should also consider correct Web 2.0 Freelance Blogging methods. It involves time and effort, but the end result is enough AdSense revenue to subsist on as a freelance writer: * Blog often. * Write separate articles about your topic to submit to sites that accept articles (GoArticles.com, for example); the articles provide important back-links to your blog. * Quote and link to subject matter experts from within your blog. *Also post comments at blogs that allow comments (like this one), specifically for the additional back-links. * Lean toward maximizing AdSense placement, without overkill; in other words, placing AdSense ads at the top of blog posts between title and text will maximize exposure, but you are only allowed a certain total number of AdSense ads. * And, finally, don't give up because it's not a scam and it actually works over time. SK

RE: not taking revisions personally. I see this happen all the time at Demand Studios. People go in the forums and type 20 words per minute to complain about the last re-write. Then they follow up with more posts. Then they post the re-write request and have other people review it. Then they follow up with more posts. THey spend hours on this rewrite request without actually a) getting it done or b) moving on. Would you argue with your boss for 3 hours if he wasn't going to pay you for it?

I make $60 in 2 hours writing for Demand Studios. I get rewrite requests 20% of the time. My rewrites get rejected at less than 4% of the time. I made 6 grand in less than six months because I didn't take revisions personally. I kissed butt, made the changes, and moved on. As I noted in my Demand Studios e-book, I can take a few literary punches for 6 grand!

Boy, you weren't kidding when you named this a "monster" list of freelance writing tips. Always good to see writers who are offering an olive branch to other beginning writers and helping them to learn the ropes.
A monster list indeed. Consider it bookmarked.
I particularly like the advice on not underselling and being able to repurpose your work.

That is such an impressive list. But I guess the biggest challenge is actually collecting payments. Its such a big headache. I guess freelancers need to concentrate a lot on building relationships. Otherwise some company will take up their position.

Abids last blog post..Any Crazy Engineers out there? Come grab this!

This has a lot of great tips... thanks for sharing... I have been doing a little bit of freelancing but I never did it too seriously because I was always caught up with other ways to pay the bills... lol
