Proofreaders and copy editors work on recommendations. The text I have worked on doesn’t belong to me. I cannot provide clips or examples; however, what I can do is take a proofreading test. Some publishers offer a small sample of work in lieu of a test.
I agree that you have to be willing to make cold calls.

Dear sir , I have your article about how on gettting published but
i am facing a problem in : Finding a mentor .. I am located in
United arab emirates and I am house wife .. i have no friends or
family here .. and the second problem : Find magazines that needs
or wants my articles .. I guess due to my location ..
Right now i am taking courses on how to write articles ( not
Business articles ) . I have good background in research .. Market
research .. So how can I solve these 2 problems ?
